Vizsla
Born February 26, 2003
Loved by Julie Sansregret and Martin Hogue
Our family’s second Vizsla—after all, it is the perfect breed (at least for us!)—Kiva was chosen for her impeccable pedigree and winning line, which boasts titles in conformation, obedience and hunting. We hoped Kiva would be the foundation of our breeding program, but due to health problems, we are resigned to a different destiny for her… So Kiva will not be mom to the first Kihivas Vizslas, but she’s still an amazing agility partner with a big heart and a dogged determination to work and to please.
Kiva (or Prrout, her nickname) loves running—running after anything, running after nothing, just running. She also loves eating—anything, any time—but her favourites include sweets, wood and horse poop! She adores her pressed rawhide bones, protecting them fiercely and burying them in our houseplants and our bed! She likes to sleep under the covers, sit on chairs and climb onto just about anything that will give her a good vantage point. She also loves to cuddle and be cuddled. She’s very selective about her doggy friends. The latter, as few as they are, know—or rather learn quickly—to respect Kiva’s mood swings by allowing her to win and by yielding just about everything to her: the path, major sniffs, rabbit poop and sticks. Otherwise, they risk having permanently scarred noses, hence Kiva’s other nickname: Jawz the landshark!
