Obedience is essential to ensuring good communication within the human-dog team. With obedience, we can establish a common language, build partnerships and create bonds. Obedience teaches our dogs how to please us.

5 weeks / 1 orientation of 2 hours and 4 classes of 55 minutes
For puppies less than 16 weeks

The first meeting is a two-hour orientation session that the entire family, with the exception of the dog, may attend. We will discuss all pertinent material that does not require the presence of your dog: partnership, principles of reward and punishment, stages of development, learning principles, prevention and management of training issues such as jumping, barking, digging, etc.

  • Socialization and play sessions
  • Introduction of basic commands (sit, down, stand and stay)
  • Practicing of the most important command; COME!
  • House training
  • Controlled mouthing
  • Manipulations, care and basic grooming
  • Crate games

5 weeks / 1 orientation of 2 hours and 4 classes of 55 minutes
For adolescent dogs (4 months to 9 months)

  • Review of basic commands and proficiency training
  • Shaping of new commands :
    • Tricks to practice the teaching of new skills
    • Mat work for self control
  • Walking on leash without pulling
  • Skills in order to control jumping on people and counters

For adolescent dogs (4 months to 9 months) who have graduated from the puppy class

  • Review of basic commands and proficiency training
  • Shaping of new commands :
    • Tricks to practice the teaching of new skills
    • Mat work for self control
  • Walking on leash without pulling
  • Skills in order to control jumping on people and counters

For adult dogs (12 months and older)

  • Review of basic commands and proficiency training

  • Basic Commands, recalls and introduction of signals
  • Heel position while turning and various commands
  • Manipulations and exams by a stranger
  • Supervised isolation and Out of sight stays
  • Interactions with strangers (humans and canines)

Preparation to pass the Canine Good Neighbor test (CKC).

For socialized dogs that know basic commands or that have obedience training

  • Introduction to clicker training
  • Shaping of new commands and tricks: bow, turn, rollover, shake paw, play dead, backup, bark, go around, jump through arms, weave through legs, etc.
  • Two levels available; Introduction and Advanced

Introduction to the sport

For dogs that have had obedience classes

Rally Obedience is a sport based on obedience with a bit of inspiration from agility and freestyle sports. Different from regular obedience, instead of waiting for the judge’s commands, teams move around a course of numbered and designated stations, always in a different order, with the dog in heel position within a given amount of time. Handlers are permitted to cheer and guide their dogs on the course. The circuit consists of about fifteen stations with a possibility of about fifty different movements. In rally, attitude trumps precision!

  • Introduction to the sport and the rules;
  • Work on the skills necessary for the practice of sport:
  • Change of positions;
  • Walking on foot;
  • Change of direction and pivot;
  • Spirals, serpentines and figure 8;
  • Obstacles and distraction;
  • Rest and recall;
  • Work the sequences.
Novice, Advanced and Excellent levels available

Introduction to the sport

  • Introduce the different exercises of the routines of different levels:
  • Walking on and off leash, automatic sitting;
  • Figure 8;
  • Stand for examination;
  • Recall;

  • Retrieving an object;
  • Jumps;
  • Down on recall.

Advanced

For dogs that have had obedience classes

  • Work on perfecting the different routines;
  • Sequence and precision work;
  • Introduction or improvement of the exercises of the next levels;
  • Refinement of basic and foundation exercises to allow you to move forward;
  • Solution of problems, increase in performance criteria;
